There is no excuse for not reading and understanding the basic tenets of the Constitution of the United States of America. It is tempting to jump over this as many immigrants do, but don’t try to participate in the political debate without any road map.

But the constitution created a limited representative republic to avoid some of the pitfalls of a “pure democracy” where the majority can easily abuse the rights and privileges of minorities, an observation that the founders were aware of, and did all to prevent the country from imploding, as other past democracies had.
