A Wise Father

A wise fathers are difficult to come by these days because wisdom is rare. Any father who wants to succeed eternally MUST pursue wisdom and become wise for, according to King Solomon;

Happy is the man who finds wisdom

And the man who gains understanding;

 For her proceeds are  better

than the profits of silver,

And her gain than fine gold. (Proverbs 3:13-14)

Today we are being bombarded by tons of messages left and

right on how to become rich and acquire more money. There is nothing wrong with

having money, but a wise father knows that wisdom is more important than money.

The Free Dictionary by Farlex defines wisdom as follows, “The ability to discern or judge

what is true, right, or lasting; insight.

Common sense; good judgment.

According to King Solomon, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but

fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7

The starting place to gaining eternal wisdom is fearing God. A father that gains wisdom

and becomes wise does the following:

Number their days:  It is when you come face to face with your mortality that you start living. Not accepting that your life has an end is the worst thing you can do to yourself. The sense of urgency that comes with knowing that your days are limited enables you to cherish, utilize, and maximize each moment of your life. You learn to forgive, let go of hurts, and enjoy life. Because you know and accept the fact that there is an expiration date on you, your affairs are put into others. King David said, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12

Store provisions for the rainy days: Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. Proverbs 6:6-8

Provides for his Family: But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. 1Tim 5:8

Leaves an inheritance: A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the sinner’s wealth is laid up for the righteous. Proverbs: 13:22

A wise father is one who fears God and has common sense, insight, and the ability to make a lasting sound judgment. This father numbers his days, stores provision for the rainy days, provides for his family, and leaves an inheritance for his children’s children. If you are already a wise father you can increase your wisdom, if you are not yet wise you can get on the path to wisdom if you will be a father someday now is the time to start acquiring the wisdom that you will need to be a successful father.

Happy Father's Day to all the wise fathers.
