Many people take their health for granted. They think that they can eat anyhow, drink, smoke, and abuse their bodies with impunity. After all other people are doing it and it seems nothing is wrong with them. Not too long ago somebody said that their grandmother smoked all her life and lived to be more than eighty. The point this person was making is that there was no point in making any lifestyle changes. Some say, “After all what will be will be!” If your genes have been programmed for you to live long and healthy that is going to be your lot. On the other hand, if you are predisposed to die young nothing can change it.

This type of reasoning is devoid of personal responsibility and seems to miss the connection between the choices people make daily on the outcome that they get.

You may be saying that you know that exercising regularly is good for your health. Maybe your doctor has even told you that you must start eating right and exercising because your health is being compromised by your current lifestyle.
