The Connection Between Money, Marriage, and Exercise

There is a great deal that money can do, and without money, many things in life will not be possible. In most economies, money drives everything, and a lack of funds will spell disaster for individuals and marriages alike. That is why proper management of money is crucial, and care must be taken by all to ensure that it is spent wisely. Unfortunately, many couples are in debt because they are spending more than they are making. This is not an attempt to blame or place anybody on a guilt trip. There is something that we have to say upfront about money that many seem to neglect, and it has to do with earning and spending money. It is not how much money you earn that matters; what matters is how much money is spent. If you spend more than you are making, you are going to be broke. One area that can easily bankrupt you is ill health. You must have heard that health is wealth. As simple as this sentence sounds, there is a lot of truth to it. When you are sick, you lose money in two different ways. First, you spend money on doctor visits, hospital stays, and medication. Secondly, depending on the degree of your illness, you may not be able to work and earn money while being treated. In short, ill health will cause you to dig a deeper debt hole from which you may never be able to recover. The road to financial independence and abundance is not an easy one. That is why every couple who desires to be financially free must free up as much money as possible and allow the money to work for them while doing other things. But if you are spending your money on prescription drugs instead of investing it, you are making the pharmaceutical companies rich, not yourself. We are not, in any way, suggesting that spending money to treat your illnesses is a bad idea or that it is not important. To make money, you have to be healthy. Therefore, if you are sick, it makes all the sense in the world to get treatment so that you can go back to good health and get back to work. What we are discussing here are those illnesses and chronic health conditions that are a direct result of a sedentary lifestyle. These are preventable diseases that are draining your family’s financial resources and will make you poor and keep you poor—if not bankrupt you. If you think this is a joking matter, take a look at the following list of preventable diseases linked to lack of exercise and unhealthy eating, and you be the judge: • Erectile dysfunction • Type-2 diabetes • High blood pressure • Stroke • Cardiovascular diseases • Heart attacks • Breathing problems • Anxiety • Stress • Low self-esteem • Feelings of depression • Cognitive dysfunction • Osteoporosis • Osteoarthritis • Poor balance • Bone fracture/falls • Rheumatoid arthritis • Colon cancer • Breast cancer • Endometrial cancer • Gestational diabetes • Preeclampsia • Polycystic ovary syndrome • Pain • Diverticulitis • Constipation • Gallbladder diseases This is not an exhaustive list of modern-era chronic diseases that can affect any couple. In fact, some researchers suggest that there are about thirty-five chronic diseases that are directly linked to a lack of exercise and unhealthy eating.
