Do you want to reach your full potential? Then don’t cheat! Nothing is going to undermine you more than cheating.
Initially, it will give you some unfair advantages and the illusion that you are making quick progress. But the end will be disastrous for you. There are a thousand, and one reason why cheating is a terrible idea, but I will focus on one.
This one reason should be strong enough to make you resist the temptation to cheat.
You don’t need to look far to see wives who are cheating on their husband;
Husbands that are cheating on their wives.
Students cheating on exams.
Employees cheating their employers.
Employers cheating their employees.
Children cheating their parents.
Parents cheating their children.
Corrupt government officials cheating taxpayers.
Taxpayers cheating the government.
Accountants forging the numbers.
Some scientists manipulating the results.
Manufacturers manipulating product quality.
It seems cheating is not only rampant; it is almost ubiquitous. You are almost tempted to think that it is impossible to succeed without cheating because “everybody else is doing it.” After all, we are all human, and none is perfect. Not so fast, let this injunction against cheating make you think again before engaging in it:
The Lord detests dishonest scales,
but accurate weights find favor with him. Proverbs 11:1
When you cheat, you may think that you are taking advantage of others, but the person you are cheating is you. While your cheating affects others, you are the person that ends up with a bad deal. When you cheat, you are short-circuiting your potential and will never be all you were created to be. Therefore, no matter how attractive cheating is, don’t do it because when you do, it is tantamount to eating your cake and hoping to have it at the same time.
Cheaters don’t win because they lose eventually. Don’t cheat!
